English fingerstyle guitarist Ian Melrose was raised in Scotland surrounded by the traditional music of his musician father. Upon becoming a musician himself, he toured with several folk bands, including a stint with Celtic superstars Clannad. A Sottish Legacy highlights the skill that has long been his trademark - warm, earthy acoustic guitar brimming with homespun charm. On the album, Melrose performs a variety of tunes with Celtic origins or influences, including Irish and Scottish traditional songs, marches, jigs, airs, rags and waltzes. He swaps between the acoustic guitar and the resonator slide guitar, the latter of which gives some of the songs a subtle country flavor. Also featuring Kerstin Blodig on rhythm guitar and bodhran, Urs Fuchs on bass and percussion, Peter Jack on fretless bass and Ingolf Kurkowski on drums and mandolin.
